| In December of 2005 Thrivent Financial for
Lutherans and His Helping Hands, Inc. completed a successful "Extra
Mile" fund raising campaign. During the
Fall of 2005, many Peoria area churches and individuals responded to
a call for support to reach a goal of $33,000 in contributions which
would be matched by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans at a one dollar
matched for three dollars raised
ratio. Cottage meetings and other fund raising events were
held throughout the area. Volunteer hours from various
community projects such as Habitat for Humanity builds were also
counted towards the $33,000. With matching funds from
Thrivent, and volunteer hours, friends and supporters of His Helping Hands, Inc. were
able to generate over $44,000 for this ministry. According to Mr. Jeff Heft, Executive
Director of His Helping Hands, Inc., "God has truly blessed this
ministry with generous and faithful servants." |
