Jeff Heft and His Helping Hands:
Jesus is so pleased with each one of you, you who give so much of themselves to help others in need.  To each of you who painted my bedrooms and garage, I am forever very grateful.  May God grant you peace because of the blessings you give others in need.

Dear Jeff,
Bob and I would like to express our appreciation for the way in which you helped us refurbish our home.  The walk-in shower sure makes it easier not only for me but [my husband] also as he was having to lift me out of the tub.  The carpet in the laundry room keeps my feet from sliding and helps prevent a fall, and the new step helps me to gain easier access to our home.  If there were more caring people in this world like you, it would surely be a better place.

Thanks and God Bless

Dear Jeff:

I wish to express my sincere appreciation for the kindness shown to me through "His Helping Hands."  After my husband died, and I, left with no assets to mention, did not know of resources...I often have the sin of pride or feel there is someone out there (whom) our Lord needs to help more!  However, the Lord sent much needed repair of rail and step to assist me!  God does know our needs, even at times we feel we can do without.

[You] have also helped me in other ways.  During the eleven years I cared for my husband, I met very few acquaintances.  The company and positive attitude of "His Helping Hands" has shown me our Lord is awesome and helps us when we think we can go it alone.  We can't!

I shall always be grateful for "His Helping Hands" and always in my daily prayers.
God Bless!

And we know in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose...What, then shall we say in response to this?  If God is for us, who can be against us?    Romans 8:28-31

Summer 2003

I am a single mom with 2 girls.  My youngest child has special needs.  She is developmentally delayed and has seizures.  In August of this year during a thunder storm someone tried to break in my home at 3:30 a.m.  I woke up from the storm hearing wood split which turned out to be my back door.  If it had not been for Jeff's ministry, I would have not been able to afford getting my back door replaced.  Being a single mom with a special needs child and my income, I would not have been able to pay a contractor to do the job.  Because of Jeff's ministry I was able to have my back doors replaced.  Now my family is able to sleep at night and feel safe again.  Thanks!

Fall 2003

I am writing this letter to let you know how Jeff Heft's ministry, His Helping Hands, has been a literal God-send for me.

...I have been using His Helping Hands Ministry for two years now.  Without it I would not have had a working door this past winter, I would still have a leak under my bathroom sink, no ceiling light in the living room, no upstairs linen closet.  He has fixed my kitchen faucet, replaced a broken faucet in the upstairs bath, put up new screen doors, and hooked up my ice maker in my refrigerator.  I still have to space my work out...I buy the parts as I can afford it, have Jeff do the work, then pay Jeff based upon our agreement from the very beginning.  He has allowed me to break my payments up over time and has even been very patient with me when it has taken me a month or longer to get him all that he is owed.

His Helping Hands is a much needed ministry, especially in my realm of being a single parent.  I don't have the skill set, nor do I have the money to hire a contractor.  I am sure that senior citizens and others on a limited income or Social Security would feel the same.  I pray that you seriously consider supporting His Helping Hands.  Your support would help Jeff be more readily available to take on ministry work on a larger scale than he has been able to.  He has been an answer to a prayer!

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing on behalf of Jeff Heft, as a letter of endorsement as he seeks to assist others through "His Helping Hands."  Prior to being elected bishop, I had the privilege of serving as Senior Pastor at First English Lutheran Church, Peoria, Illinois.

Jeff was an active member of First English and a dedicated servant.  In addition to serving as an usher, often at both our Sunday morning worship services, Jeff served on our Church Council as a trustee.  The trustees had the responsibility of counting and transporting worship offerings and maintaining the property.  Jeff proved himself to be trustworthy in his handling of the offerings after worship and was very reliable in maintaining the church property.  He is very knowledgeable when it comes to repairs and maintenance.

Jeff also has a very committed faith in God and a strong compassion for God's people.  I am personally impressed with his outreach through "His Helping Hands," and I endorse him without reservation.

Yours in Christ,
Warren D. Freiheit

Common Place supports the work of His Helping Hands in providing needed home repairs for low-income homeowners in Peoria.  Since 1976, Common Place's Home Improvement Program has made emergency, health and safety repairs to more than 450 homes on the Center South Side of Peoria.  The need, however, continues to be great as the housing stock and the owner-occupants themselves age and do not have the means to make the repairs themselves.  In addition, limited funding for not-for-profit rehabilitation programs like ours prevents us from helping all those in need.  Peoria needs programs like His Helping Hands to help meet that need.

It will be our pleasure to collaborate with His Helping Hands by referring homeowners to them and sharing information when feasible.

Jeff Heft was extremely helpful to me when I was widowed and needed several things fixed around my house and yard.  Jeff did a wonderful job with everything - repairing and fixing items, and doing landscaping.  His work was very professional and was a real Godsend.  I was not physically capable of doing the work myself, nor would it have been affordable for me to have contracted the work out.  I feel there is a great need for the Helping Hands ministry in our community.  When you support this ministry you know that you are helping people right in our own community.

I am a single grandmother.  I have 5 grandchildren living with me under my care.  This makes it very hard to make ends meet.  When something breaks in my home it is impossible for me to pay the "going rate" for plumbers, electricians, and carpenters to come and make the repairs.  The ministry of His Helping Hands has helped me to get the necessary repairs made while still being able to keep up with the bills.  All work has been done at no expense to myself.  This includes replacing a defective water heater, fixing leaking faucets, unclogging a sewer drain, repairing dangerous stairs and more.

His Helping Hands has been a Godsend.  I thank the Lord for their ministry.
